People are Dummies

An update on the dog/neighbor situation. I don’t remember what all I put in the last blog, and I don’t feel like going back to read it all so if I repeat myself just let it go.....

WELLLLLLL! First thing is Arkansas is one of the few states left where Cruelty to Animals is only a misdemeanor. BUT it’s the highest level misdemeanor there is. Punishment of up to $1000 fines, and/or 1 year jail time. Well when my friend that lives behind us came over here to check on Meeka and saw the neighbors had called the cops, she asked her why. Our neighbor replied that her husband had called them because she was afraid "someone was going around and poisoning people’s dogs" BULL! If anyone poisoned our dog it was her.

So I didn’t go look at Meeka. I have a weak stomach and that wasn’t something I wanted to see. Well yesterday was our court to say guilty or not, and we went and got a copy of the police report so we could make our decision as what to do. And I was TICKED! The report said that our neighbor said Meeka never had food or water and that he and his wife were always coming over here and giving her food and water. Several problems with that story. First and foremost Our dog was fed twice a day, once in the morning, and once when Blaine got off work late at night. Were our neighbors outside watching us constantly? Who knows, but I doubt it. Second is, of course she never had food when they saw her because she ate it! Hello!!! How many dogs look at their food and think "hhmmmm I will leave this here all day so the neighbors can see it."?

We only fed her twice a day because we wanted her to stay healthy and not develop health issues and plus as you know she was going to be bred in November. And did you know you only need to feed your animal once every 12 hours? Sooooo....Another problem with that is that they did NOT ask or have our permission to feed our dog, especially not table food. Seriously I don’t even know what she could have fed her, maybe she gave her pork, or chicken with bones and she choked on that....And again, one of us is almost always home. When I am at work, Blaine is here, when he is at work I am here, and I think I would notice someone feeding my dog. As for the water thing, again never ever saw them give her water, but that I would not have minded. she knocked her bowl over ALL day long. We tried a metal bowl, we tried moving it far enough away she could reach it but not walk around it, but when she got tangled up, she couldn’t get to it so we moved it back by her. We tried those that fill up with a 2 liter bottle and it keeps filling as they drink, and she chewed the bottle off. So no she didn’t have water 24 hours a day but she was watered at least 4 times a day if not more. And she usually drank it right up, and we’d refill it, and then she would drink a little more and knock it over. Just so happens we had been gone that day and she has knocked it over, and of course she had already ate her food that day and wouldn’t have gotten fed again until that night. AND again, if they were seeing us "mistreating" our dog or not feeding or watering her, why didn’t they call someone? BECAUSE IT’S BULL! And they know it. And if they were "always giving our dog food and water as they claimed then she always had food and water right?

So it’s in the report she had no water, BUTTTTTT what gets me is how they are saying she died. Remember I didn’t see her, nor understand how they were saying she choked. Like I said her chain was NOT around her neck. So picture this in your mind, and think of your dog, or someone elses, A stake is in the ground, and it has a hook on it, you hook a chain or cord to it, and to the dog’s collar. Well when Meeka would get tangled up, the chain would be around the stake, not around her. And she would sit by it (not like she could go anywhere else) and bark her head off until we came out there and untangled her. By the way she did the same thing when she wanted more water.Bark bark bark until we came and gave it to her. Well her dog house is pretty close to her stake because she was always getting tangled and we didn’t want her to be without it if she got tangled while we were gone. The police report said the chain was tangled around the stake, and ran under her dog house, which means she ran around her dog house and didn’t go back the other way, and that she had choked to death by trying to get in her dog house. Basically doggy suicide. They are saying she pulled away from her stake to get in her house until she choked....Is that not ridiculous? A dog, especially our dog, would not have done that. As soon as she started to choke up, she would have stopped pulling away from her stake, and laid by it. Am I not right? If you had something on your neck, and you pulled away from the person holding it, would you not stop once it started to tighten and hurt? Dummies I swear!

Well we paid our lawyer $250 thanks to Blaine’s grandma, and he is going to talk to the prosecutor and try to have it dismissed, or at least the lowest fine possible. BUT if the pros. doesn’t want to do that and we have to go to trial, it’s another $250 to the lawyer, not to mention whatever fines and court costs and possible bail money if we are found guilty....So everyone out there pray it’s dismissed! The only good news right now is that the people who live behind us are going to testify that they have seen us feed and water our dog all the time, AND that when we were going to be gone all day we have had her come and untangle her and give her water....So it will be neighbor's word against our word and neighbors behind our house’s word.....Thought about going to talk to the neighbors on the other side, but I really don’t want to drag more people in it, especially if they could happen to be friends with jerky neighbors. And that is that........
